Before Flying

Change Currency:  The Arcade in Raffles Place.
You can hardly find any Money Changer in Taiwan.  And most local banks do not have currency exchange services.  So always remember to change enough currency before you board the plane.  But in any case that you are so excited about the trip, that you totally forgot about the money issue… You can still find money changer at the airport, but the rate is definitely not as good as that from the Ah-neh uncles at The Arcade in Raffles Place.

3G-Get Connected:  FREE User ID : TPE-Free Wifi Registration
Taiwan is pretty well wifi-connected.  There is free wifi in the airport.  And it is a basic requirement for hotels and hostels, but just in case, always double check before you book.  Free wifi is also available in most of the cafes (except Starbucks) and restaurants, just ask them for the password.
TPE-Free Hotspots are also available in public places like 7-11s, shopping centers, train stations, bus stops and even some buses.   Just register for a FREE User ID online:  TPE-Free Wifi Registration, but connections might not be stable.
With all these connectivities, you don’t really need to purchase any prepaid 3G phonecard, unless you are those who has the habit of updating your whereabouts instantaneously.  Com’on, you are suppose to be on leave, it is the best time to play ‘invisible’ and 與世隔絕 and enjoy your holidays!
